The Tarzana Armenian Grocery & Deli or ‘TAG DELI’ AKA ‘The Armenian Deli’ began it’s 40 year journey on a small side street in Tarzana Ca.in 1972. At a time when ethnic food was still considered foreign and unknown, Mama ‘Rose’ Chelebian put forth several new and exciting sandwiches wrapped in Pita Bread.
The healthy-yet-delicious ingredients chosen by her immediately created this craze now known as “A Pita Wrap at The Armenian Deli” This craze still thrives today and the concept has surpassed all ethnic barriers allowing TAG DELI to become one of the top delis in Los Angeles with those “Knockout Pita Wraps!” as circulated by L.A. Magazine in 2005.
